Ink exchange anyone?

A recent thread on the Webmaster-Talk forums caused some hilarity (as all of my posts do naturally….), because of the following post:

Gullible Inks Inc. is looking for quality inks for reciprocal ink exchange.

If you have any inks, then email gullible@gullible.org.uk

Of course this is a way to catch a couple of spammers, who don’t seem to know their language/their business language (depending on their nationality) very well. I didn’t actually even mention “links”, but instead “ink exchange”, and if you thought there was something wrong with my l key, intelligent humans would notice the word “Gullible” has this in twice.

The usual rubbish came back though, with automated spam posts made by lonely simple-minded robots, asking repeatedly for “link exchange” or “relevant reciprocal linking”.

Anyway, back to the point. This weeks chosen web site is www.gullible.org.uk, made by yours truly. I hope you’ll find the blog a funny read too.

Finally, as an added treat, here’s the autoresponder reply to an email to Gullible Inks Inc.:

Hi Bob, you’ve reached Gullible Inks. You have been placed on hold indefinitely.

We are interested in ink exchange. If you are highly reputable, we suggest you never contact us again. If not, then thanks for your email regarding [[SUBJECT TITLE GOES HERE]] .

Gullible Inks Inc.

haha. I don’t think that I saw that thread there. Before I read this post, I’ve already looked at some of the blogs on that site. Funny stuff! I also signed up for the email so I could see what it said.

btw, the link that you have on there to the thread on WMT is broken (double http://)
